Anonymize video for research

Upload the recording to iwant.video, choose Faces or Whole people, type any names to bleep, click Make a free preview, and pay $10. Faces are blurred in every frame and each name is bleeped where it is spoken. Small faces can be missed and the preview is silent, so review the finished video against your protocol.

How to anonymize video for research

  1. Upload your video

One MP4, MOV or MKV, up to 5 GB and six hours.

  2. Choose what identifies participants

Faces or Whole people, an age if only minors should be hidden, and names or places to bleep.

  3. Make a free preview

Six five-second clips come back with the faces blurred. The preview is silent; bleeped names are in the finished video.

  4. Pay $10

One card payment. The download link is emailed to you and works for two days.

Before a recording is shared

Interviews, observations and usability sessions get de-identified in one run: faces blurred, spoken names bleeped. With children, set an age so the adults leading the session stay visible.

What it does not promise

Compliance with any regulation. Your protocol decides what counts as de-identified, and you review the result.

The price

Ten minutes or six hours, a flat $10. Each recording is its own $10.
